Kristen Sukolsky was announced as Melbourne High Schools new Head Coach at the Parent Meeting Thursday night, August 28th. Kristen was born and raised in Florida and graduated our own Melbourne High School in 2003. She was a four year coxswain and letter winner under former MHS Head Coach Matt Kaminski. Kristen then attended Marietta College where she was a coxswain for the men's team. As a sophomore, she earned a gold medal at Bill Braxton Regatta and as a freshman, she earned sixth place at Dad Vails and fourth place at SIRA's. |
Another MHS Crew Alumnus, Jessica Beekler returns to coaching at MHS for her second year. Jessica is a Level I Certified coach and will continue with her coaching education. She was also a four year Rower and letter winner under former MHS Head Coach Matt Kaminski. Jessica, who coached the women's Novice rowers in 2007/2008 took her 4 boat to second place at the Florida State Championships. In turn, this gave them the chance to compete at Nationals, for a Mel-Hi first. |
Welcome back to Manny & Karen Franco for their 2nd year as Land coaches for Mel Hi Crew. Karen teaches Economics at Melbourne High School, and is the School Liaison for the Crew Team. Manuel (Manny) is a Financial Advisor for the Global Wealth Management Group of Merrill Lynch . Manny & Karen are both athletic and very much enjoy their time with Mel Hi Crew. Kristen finished her education at Jacksonville University where she was a coxswain for the Men's JU Dolphin Rowing Team. Kristen has many accomplishments from JU Including a 5th place at Dad Vail; a first for JU. Kristen was named MVP of the Men's Team in 2007. After graduation, Kristen stayed in Jacksonville to help JU Coach their Coxswains. Kristen is excited about returning to Melbourne, and coaching at her alma mater.
